The BMW E24 is the first generation of BMW 6 Series grand tourer coupes and was produced by from 1976 to 1988. It replaced the E9 coupes and was replaced, after a 16-year hiatus, in 2004 by the E63 6 Series. Aside from the M635csi/M6 models, the E24 was powered by a range of M30 straight-6 engines.

The E24 M635CSi, introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1983, is considered the first in the line of M6 models. In 1987, the equivalent model for the USA and Japan was introduced and badged as an M6.

The main difference between the M6 and its European counterpart is that the S38 engine is used instead of the M88/3. Compared with the M88/3, the S38 has a catalytic converter, the compression ratio reduced to 9.8:1, a double row timing chain, a shorter camshaft duration and a simplified exhaust manifold. The power output for the E24 M6 is 256hp.

Standard equipment on the USA market M6 cars included many features which were optional on European cars, including heated power seats, self-levelling rear suspension, beverage chiller (cooled by an air-conditioning system) between the rear seats, air-conditioning vents for rear seat occupants, sunshade for rear occupants and an 8 speaker sound system.

Air Conditioning, Electric front seats, Electric sunroof, Heated rear screen, Rear console with integrated A/C, Sony cassette player, Original BMW toolkit, Cigarette lighter

This menacing looking M6 looks just right finished in Dolphin Metallic. The paintwork is in stunning order, emitting a deep shine all round and presenting virtually blemish free. The sills and arches are free from corrosion and all of the chrome work and window trims are in good condition. Both front and rear bumpers are free from any unsightly scuffs or dents.

Smaller details, such as the pin stripes are present and correct and all the lights remain free from any cracks or moisture.

The interior echos the fantastic condition of the exterior and is clean with no rips, tears or wear on the retro Houndstooth cloth seats. Being of Japanese specification, the interior of this M6 came with upgraded equipment in comparison to its European counterparts with electrically operated sunroof, electric front seats and a fixed rear center console with integrated air conditioning as standard. None of the plastic trim has been damaged and all the controls work as they should.

Under the bonnet of this M6 you will find a beautifully clean engine bay housing the legendary S38 powerplant. This particular example is in fine order with all the components and ancillaries clean and leak free. The Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox feels smooth and precise pulling through the gears with ease.

Upon arrival with us this M6 has undergone a extensive inspection to ensure it presents to the highest standard. With recent work totalling in excess of £7000, this M6 is in perfect mechanical health and ready to be driven and enjoyed.

A period set of 17″ Racing Dynamic sport wheels have been fitted to this example and complement the Diamond Schwartz paintwork perfectly. All four alloys present in unmarked condition and are wrapped in brand new Falken Azenis FK510’s all round. Both front and rear brake discs and pads have just been replaced.
