The Porsche 964 was Porsche’s very thorough replacement for the Carrera 3.2, purported to be 85% new. It was designed by Benjamin Dimson circa 1986 and manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994. The car continued the traditional lineage of 911 design but with substantial styling revision for the eighties including very prominent and sleek integrated bumpers.
It also introduced the onset of then contemporary technology such as Porsche’s optional Tiptronic automatic transmission and all wheel drive as options. Indeed the first 964s available in 1989 were all wheel drive Carrera 4 models, with the more traditional rear wheel drive Carrera 2 following in 1990. Both variants were available as a Coupe, Targa or Cabriolet.
A new naturally aspirated engine called the M64 was used for 964 models. It was a typical flat-six with a swept capacity of 3.6 litres. The suspension was changed from torsion bars to coil springs and shock absorbers and other technological firsts included power steering and ABS brakes both of which were standard. Aerodynamic refinements included fog lamps flush with the bumper, and a new electric rear spoiler which raised at speeds above 50 mph (80 km/h) and lowered down flush with the rear engine lid at lower speeds.
Polar Silver Metallic Paint, Leatherette Interior, Rear Wiper, Air Conditioning, Electric Sun Roof, Electric Windows, Radio, Koni FSD Suspension (original supplied with car).
This example is finished in its original factory coat of Porsche Polar Silver (A8A8). A hue that suits the sleek and elegant proportions of the 964 beautifully. The original paint has a deep and consistent shine across the bodywork and the condition of the rubber seals, and lights shows this to be an exemplary 964.
This car has been specified with the Black Leatherette interior and internally, looks and feels very fresh, as a low mileage example should. The dash is free from unsightly scratches or marks with good carpets as well; and it is clear that this 964 has been cared for by it previous owners.
